With similar features as a parkland course, mountain courses have more severe characteristics. Significant elevation changes, densely wooded, towering trees, and expansive vistas are typical characteristics. Deep chasms and natural barrancas are common. Landscaping is maintained in a minimalist natural style, hence the fairways and tees are less manicured.
